Chippenham has a childrens playground off Tharp Way.  Much of the equipment is getting old (although still in generally good condition), and the area generally is looking tired and in need of refreshing.  Some of the equipment may not meet modern standards of safety.

A survey was carried out via the Village Newsletter.  Although only a few people took the time to respond, they were unaminous that they were not happy with the current facilities and would use the playground more if it was improved.

The comments generally made were :-

• More variety and improved layout needed;
• Access for pushchairs is poor;
• Need better seating;
• Concerns over dogs fouling bark-chip surface;
• Slides not suitable for younger children;
• No longer need for football goals as village has a pitch elsewhere.
