Our modern lifestyle creates enormous quantities of waste. If not recycled it goes into landfill and incinerators. Recycling enables products to be used again in the manufacture of new items, both reducing the need for raw material as well as reducing the amount of waste.
Recycling Bins The recycling bins at the Village Hall take Glass, Cans/Tins, Plastic Bottles, and Paper. Please remove tops from bottles, and note that the plastics bin can only take plastic bottles, not other plastic containers. If the bins are full please don't leave your recycling beside the bin. If you have children watch out for broken glass on the ground around the bins. It is worth noting that Chippenham Parish Council receive an income from the recycling bins. Using them not only helps reduce consumption of natural resources, but benefits the village too! Kerbside Collection There is a kerbside recycling collection operated by Cleanaway on behalf of East Cambridgeshire District Council. The collection day is alternate Wednesdays. For collection dates click here The following materials can be put out for kerbside collection: Newspapers, Magazines, Junk Mail, Yellow Pages. In separate bags: Washed Cans, Glass Bottles and Jars, and any type of empty aerosol cans. Green waste can be put out in the special brown paper bags.
At present, they do not collect: Plastic, Textiles, Wood, Polystyrene. Please note you will need a black plastic box which can be obtained from East Cambridgeshire District Council. Refuse Collections Please "slim your bin" by recycling as much as possible. For the rest there is a collection every Tuesday by Cleanaway. If there is a Bank Holiday in the week collection will be on the Wednesday rather than the Tuesday. Waste should be put out by 9.00 on the day of collection. For more details of the service including collection arrangements for public holidays please visit the East Cambs website.
